CMA CGM to Pay $1.4B for FedEx Supply Chain
[ July 10, 2026 // Gary Burrows ]CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire FedEx Supply Chain from FedEx Corp. for an enterprise value of US$1.4 billion in a transaction that will significantly expand the North American contract logistics operations of its CEVA Logistics subsidiary while establishing a long-term commercial relationship between the two companies.
The acquisition, announced July 1, is expected to close later this year, subject to customary regulatory approvals.
By adding FedEx Supply Chain’s assets and nearly 10,000 employees, CEVA will nearly triple its North American contract logistics business. The combined operation will employ about 20,000 people across more than 240 locations, including about 150 warehouses.
For CMA CGM, the acquisition advances a strategy that has transformed the French shipping group from a container carrier into an integrated logistics provider offering ocean, air, ground transportation and contract logistics services.
“The acquisition and partnership with FedEx represent a major step in the development of CEVA Logistics and our logistics activities in North America,” Rodolphe Saadé, chairman and chief executive officer of CMA CGM Group, said in a statement. “We are strengthening our ability to provide customers with integrated supply chain solutions.”
FedEx said the sale will allow the company to sharpen its focus on transportation services and selected higher-value industry sectors, including healthcare, automotive, aerospace and data centers.
“By streamlining our portfolio, FedEx is better positioned to execute our long-term vision and continue to serve as the heartbeat of the industrial economy,” Raj Subramaniam, president and chief executive officer of FedEx, said.
Beyond the acquisition itself, the companies also announced plans for a broader commercial partnership.
Under a multi-year, non-exclusive agreement, CMA CGM is expected to become a preferred ocean carrier for FedEx while the companies also collaborate on selected air cargo capacity solutions. Those agreements are expected to be implemented in phases through 2028.
The non-exclusive structure allows FedEx to secure additional ocean and air capacity while maintaining flexibility to work with other transportation providers.
FedEx Supply Chain serves customers across multiple industries, including retail, consumer products, healthcare, technology, automotive and industrial manufacturing through a large network of warehouse and distribution operations.
For CEVA, the acquisition substantially strengthens its presence in the world’s largest logistics market and enhances its ability to provide end-to-end supply chain services for multinational customers seeking integrated transportation, warehousing and fulfillment solutions.
The transaction also reinforces CMA CGM’s long-term investment strategy in the United States, where the group has expanded its presence through logistics, port, air cargo and inland transportation investments over the past several years.
