Foster-Cormier to Lead Port of South Louisiana
[ January 16, 2026 // Gary Burrows ]The Port of South Louisiana said he has named Julia Fisher-Cormier as the Gulf port’s next executive director.
The River Parish native returns to the port after serving as deputy secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development since August 2025. She was chief commercial officer at the Port of South Louisiana prior to her DOTD appointment.
At DOTD she led the newly created Office of Transformation, charged with cutting red tape, modernizing operations, and improving fiscal efficiency. Prior to her appointment as deputy secretary, she was commissioner of the state Office of Multimodal Commerce, overseeing state multimodal transportation systems funding programs. The office managed more than US$120 million in port and aviation infrastructure funding, advanced state-funded passenger rail routes, and obtained a federal planning grant for Louisiana’s 32 active ports.
As CCO at Port of South Louisiana, she saw the launch of more than US$1 billion in new foreign direct investment, retention and expansion of anchor tenants, and revitalization of the Globalplex Intermodal Facility.
The 54-mile Port of South Louisiana port district on the Mississippi River is Louisiana’s largest port and the top U.S. grain exporter and second-largest energy transfer post.
