United Tightens Dangerous Goods Controls

United Airlines has introduced a system control preventing regulated dangerous goods shipments from being manifested or loaded unless they successfully complete IATA’s DG AutoCheck process.

The enhancement, deployed globally through United Cargo’s UC360° cargo management system, requires dangerous goods shipments to receive a “PASS” response from IATA DG AutoCheck before they can proceed through the carrier’s Flight Prep Workbench.

“If a DG shipment does not have a checklist completed in IATA DG AutoCheck with a ‘PASS’ response, United UC360 will prevent the shipment from being manifested or loaded,” said Tim Smid, United Airlines manager of service execution.

IATA DG AutoCheck electronically validates shipper dangerous goods declarations against IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations and supports physical package inspections.

United’s new control effectively builds that compliance check directly into the cargo acceptance and flight-preparation workflow, preventing shipments that have not cleared the process from advancing to aircraft loading.
