United TempControl Accepts Envirotainer RAP e2

[ May 4, 2016   //   ]

United Cargo is enhancing its TempControl service by accepting the Envirotainer RAP e2 temperature-controlled container. United can now transport the entire suite of Envirotainer’s active units on the airline’s network of 59 TempControl-certified handling locations.
The Envirotainer RAP e2 is a LD9-sized unit with a newly-designed shell delivering superior insulation performance. Like the smaller RKN e1, also accepted by United, the RAP e2 does not require dry ice or battery replacement – it uses rechargeable batteries to power its electric heating and compressor cooling system. The Envirotainer RAP e2 supports any desired set temperature between zero and +25 Celsius and can power its system for 100 hours on a single charge in typical shipment ambient conditions.
“The RAP e2 provides key benefits to TempControl customers,” said Jim Bellinder, vice president, Cargo Sales Americas for United Cargo. “Its larger capacity and expanded temperature range gives customers greater flexibility in choosing the most efficient transport for their critical temperature-sensitive shipments. United Cargo and Envirotainer have worked together on cool chain logistics for nearly 10 years, so we are excited to offer the RAP e2 as an option for our customers.”
TempControl customers may choose to lease the RAP e2 directly through Envirotainer or through United Cargo. Leases through United Cargo will be coordinated by the Control Tower team of TempControl shipment management specialists.
Acceptance of the RAP e2 is the latest TempControl enhancement to follow the product’s guiding principle: to provide the locations, packaging options and service innovations most requested by customers.
