Subcommittee to Explore Federal Maritime Policy and Challenges

U.S. Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), chairman of the Subcommittee on Surface Transportation and Merchant Marine Infrastructure, Safety, and Security, will convene a hearing titled “Maritime Transportation: Opportunities and Challenges for the Maritime Administration and Federal Maritime Commission” at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2017. This hearing will explore federal maritime policy to guide the reauthorization of two maritime agencies, the U.S. Maritime Administration and Federal Maritime Commission. It will also examine the state of the nation’s maritime transportation system and conduct oversight of the U.S. Maritime Administration, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the Federal Maritime Commission.
