Ship Call Opens Port Milwaukee Shipping Season

[ April 10, 2026   //   ]

Port Milwaukee opened its 2026 international shipping season April 3 with the arrival of the Marshall Islands-flagged Federal Nagara, officials said.

The vessel called at the Logistec terminal to discharge specialty steel after transiting the St. Lawrence Seaway from Spain and Belgium. The Seaway’s binational system linking the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean opened March 22.

The port’s international season runs about nine months. In 2025, it handled 60 international vessel calls totaling more than 570,000 tonnes, with cargo tied to markets across Europe, Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The vessel, operated by Fednav, later departed for Thunder Bay, Ontario.
