PhilaPort Receives Second Wave of Super Post-Panamax Cranes

[ March 31, 2019   //   ]

PhilaPort received two more super post-Panamax cranes early on the morning on March 27 to the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal. The cranes are identical to the two that arrived at the Port last year with a fifth crane due to arrive in this summer.

The cranes where manufactured by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC).

The cranes will be installed at Packer Avenue Marine Terminal, the Port’s main container terminal, which is currently undergoing $300 million dollars in terminal improvement projects. With the addition of the new cranes, the terminal will run completely on electricity, removing all diesel emissions.

Upgrades included strengthening and realigning a berth, removing warehousing and adding five new super post-Panamax, bringing the total operational cranes to seven.
