JAXPORT led the nation’s ports in inbound container handling growth in October, according to Panjiva Inc., a global trade data company.

Panjiva article “JAXPORT Leads Nation’s Ports to Eight Straight Handling Expansion” (Nov. 8, 2017) focused on the nation’s eighth consecutive month of growth in this sector. In October, container imports into the U.S. climbed by 5.8% over the same period a year ago, according to Panjiva’s data.

The article points out that “Jacksonville…was the fastest growing of the top 20 ports, with import growth of 37.2% bringing the annual total to 14.5%. It has been a beneficiary both of Asian traffic growth, including as a result of the expansion of the Panama Canal, as well as increased automotive industry imports.”
