NWSA seeking nominations for new award program

[ August 16, 2018   //   ]

The Northwest Seaport Alliance has launched the North Star Awards, a customer recognition program that recognizes businesses using the Seattle-Tacoma gateway for outstanding business and environmental achievements.

NWSA tenants, shippers and supply chain partners (ocean carriers, terminal operators, 3PLs, property developers and warehouse companies), stakeholders, as well as non-profit organizations are all eligible to participate.

The awards are unique in that competition is open to businesses regardless of whether they are located, as long as their activity directly supports cargo volume growth or environmental sustainability in the Puget Sound region.

There are two separate awards: Cargo Anchor Award and Environmental Sustainability Award.

The Cargo Anchor Award recognizes contributions that companies have made to the long-term success of the NWSA gateway, while promoting trade and economic development in the region. Winners are selected based on measurable net contribution to increasing marine cargo volume in the gateway and related jobs generated from specific initiatives, improvements or investments.

The Environmental Stewardship Award recognizes innovative minds and adaptive measures that support the continued health of the Puget Sound region’s environment, while promoting trade and economic development. Winners are selected based on leadership that promotes environmental sustainability in an industrial setting or demonstrates overall commitment to the natural environment.

Winners will receive year-long promotion through public recognition at NWSA-sponsored events and in print and digital media via articles, press releases, the NWSA website and social media channels.

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 17. Visit the North Star Awards webpage at www.nwseaportalliance.com/northstar for more information or to submit a nomination.
