Next Step for Spliethoff’s Cleveland-Europe Express

[ April 13, 2016   //   ]

Dutch shipping company Spliethoff recently announced that it is taking the next step in the development of the Spliethoff Cleveland Europe Express (CEEWAY) by expanding its team in Toronto, Ontario.
Back in December 2013 Dutch shipping company Spliethoff and The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority in Cleveland, Ohio struck a deal to start the first combined container and general cargo shipping route between Cleveland and Northern Europe. From that day onwards Spliethoff took care of an increased frequency of sailings in 2014 and 2015 and now in 2016 is taking it to the next level. With the opening of the lakes the first shipment has already been discharged in Cleveland.
Due to the success and growth of its Canadian operations, Spliethoff has amalgamated the group’s synergies and integrated the BigLift Toronto office into the Spliethoff Great Lakes department.
BigLift Toronto’s experienced staff members, Peter Eisenhardt and Doug Grennan, bring a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Heavy Lift, Project and Breakbulk markets. They will contribute to the further development and expansion of the Spliethoff Group’s services to and from the Great Lakes region and Western Canada. At the same time, they will continue to market the leading heavy lift brand BigLift Shipping.
The Spliethoff brand now covers Central and Western Canada. This expansion is the next step in facilitating easier access for the Western Canadian market to a global leader in sea and Lakes transportation in order to trade the global markets.
BigLift’s office in Toronto has been renamed ‘Spliethoff Toronto’.
In the Canada / Great Lakes area, Spliethoff has offices in Montreal, Toronto and Cleveland, Ohio.
