Infant formula lands at Rickenbacker

[ June 18, 2022   //   ]

An air shipment containing 85,000 tins or approximately 1.85 million 8-ounce bottle equivalents of Bubs Australia infant formula was flown into Rickenbacker International Airport (LCK) from Melbourne, Australia as part of Operation Fly Formula.
Offering a geographic advantage and speed to market, Rickenbacker has proven to be a vital global gateway for goods when they are needed most.
With this shipment, Rickenbacker upholds its reputation as an important national asset, having also served as one of the select few airports to receive emergency shipments of PPE during the pandemic from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
Under Operation Fly Formula, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), General Services Administration (GSA), and Department of Defense (DOD) are partnering to import infant formulas from other nations that meet U.S. health and safety standards, so it can get to store shelves faster. The formula will be distributed across Walmart’s national network of stores.
