IATA Certifies FedEx’s Pharma Quality Program

[ July 15, 2025   //   ]

FedEx Corp. said the International Air Transport Association, or IATA recognized the integrated giant’s Global Healthcare Quality Program with the CEIV Pharma Corporate Certification.

The corporate-level certificate for the company’s hubs and ramps validates FedEx’s quality management system and its ability to deliver end-to-end logistic services in compliance with the increasingly complex and highly regulated pharmaceutical industry, the company said.

Nick Gennari, president of global healthcare and commercial sales, said the certification “showcases our commitment to complying with the highest standards in the industry for the transportation and handling of global pharmaceutical products.

More than 90 percent of the global healthcare volume moving through FedEx facilities are now CEIV Pharma-certified, “providing our customers with outstanding quality solutions in the global pharma airspace,” Gennari added.

The pharmaceutical industry relies on air transport for high-value, time-sensitive, temperature-controlled products such as vaccines or medication. As global supply chains become more complex, “the need for consistent, trusted standards is greater than ever for the safety of the end consumers,” said Frederic Leger, IATA’s senior vice president commercial products and services.

FedEx’s Memphis and Indianapolis hubs were CEIV Pharma-certified in 2024, as well as ramps in San Juan and Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. The new certificate adds these 15 facilities in May: Cologne, Germany; Fort Worth, Texas; Frankfurt, Germany; Greensboro, North Carolina; Guangzhou, China; Liege, Belgium; Los Angeles; Miami; Milan, Italy; Newark, New Jersey; Oakland, California; Osaka, Japan; Paris; San Jose, Costa Rica; and Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
