IAG Cargo to handle South Africa art exhibit for British Museum

[ July 11, 2016   //   ]

The British Museum has appointed IAG Cargo as the official logistics partner of the upcoming “South Africa: 3 Million Years of Art” exhibition that opens Oct. 27, 2016 and runs through Feb. 26, 2017, in London. The artworks will be transported via IAG Cargo’s “Secure” service, dedicated to the delivery of high-value consignments.
“This exciting partnership builds on the work we completed last year with the British Museum. Our Secure service will see the team work closely with the British Museum throughout transportation to ensure that maximum care is taken to move these priceless artworks,” said Drew Crawley, IAG Cargo CEO.
South Africa is home to some of the earliest evidence for the development of artistic thought and production anywhere in the world – beginning three million years ago. This will be the first major UK exhibition of South African art to explore that history.
“Having worked with the IAG Cargo team before, we have every confidence that the care taken in transporting these important artworks will enable us to deliver a fascinating exhibition for our visitors,” remarked Jill Maggs, Registrar at the British Museum.
The exhibition will shed light on the varied artistic achievements of the country through an exciting range of artworks loaned for the exhibition, with many being transported to the UK for the first time. IAG Cargo will be transporting irreplaceable artworks from South Africa to the United Kingdom for the exhibition.
