Gernandt elected Hapag-Lloyd AG Chairman

[ March 5, 2026   //   ]

Hapag-Lloyd AG said its supervisory board has elected Karl Gernandt as chairman with immediate effect, replacing Michael Behrendt, who is unable to perform his duties due to health reasons.

Behrendt will remain an ordinary member of the supervisory board, the company said. The board emphasized that the leadership change does not diminish Behrendt’s contributions and expressed its support for his return as chairman following a full recovery. The board said it will revisit the matter at an appropriate time.

Upon assuming the chairmanship, Gernandt stepped down as head of the audit and financial committee. The supervisory board appointed Oscar Eduardo Hasbún Martínez, a board member since 2014, to lead the committee.

Separately, Francisco Pérez Mackenna resigned from the supervisory board as a representative of shareholders of CSAV, at his own request. He was succeeded by Macario Valdés Raczynski, who was appointed to the board by the Local Court of Hamburg effective Feb. 13.
