GEODIS to Decarbonize NAOS’s Supply Chain

[ February 25, 2026   //   ]

GEODIS has launched a multimodal rail and road transport solution for NAOS Group as part of a broader effort to decarbonize the cosmetics company’s supply chain.

Since January, GEODIS has operated a combined rail-road logistics flow linking northern and southern France. Shipments are collected in Neuville-en-Ferrain and transported by truck to a multimodal platform in Dourges. From there, the goods move by rail to Avignon before final delivery by truck to NAOS’s logistics warehouse in Port Saint Louis.

The flow represents nearly 300 full truckloads per year that were previously handled exclusively by road. By shifting the long-haul leg between Dourges and Avignon to rail, the companies expect to significantly reduce transport-related carbon emissions while maintaining service reliability and security.

GEODIS said a full truck carrying 15 tons of cargo generates about one metric ton of carbon dioxide when transported entirely by road, compared with only a few dozen kilograms under a combined rail-road model. The new setup is expected to reduce NAOS’s carbon dioxide emissions by about 400 metric tons per year compared with road-only transport.

To meet the security and confidentiality requirements of the cosmetics sector, GEODIS is using secured containers throughout the move and assigning dedicated drivers for pickup and final delivery.

The multimodal initiative builds on a strategic partnership that began in 2022. Since then, GEODIS has supported NAOS in transforming and decarbonizing its broader supply chain, including centralized maritime transport for brands such as Bioderma, Institut Esthederm and Etat Pur, as well as international warehouse management, customs expertise and lower-carbon land transport solutions.

Marc Vollet, managing director of the European Road Network at GEODIS, said the project marks a significant step in a long-term partnership focused on operational performance and sustainability in Europe and globally.

Stéphanie de La Fournière, global transport manager at NAOS Group, said the collaboration is aimed at optimizing logistics performance while supporting the company’s growth and environmental goals.

GEODIS operates in nearly 170 countries with about 50,000 employees and reported 2024 revenue of 11.3 billion euros. The company is owned by SNCF Group.
