Freedom Intermodal, NOPB Expand at Port NOLA

[ June 20, 2025   //   ]

The New Orleans Public Belt Railroad, or NOPB, said it has strengthened its partnership with Freedom International Tank Services, a full-service, logistics provider headquartered in New Orleans.

Freedom Intermodal’s recent launch of its railcar cleaning services, as well as an expansion of transloading capacity and railcar storage, improves efficiency and reliability to the bulk liquid supply chain, the company said.

With direct access to all six Class I railroads via the NOPB, Freedom Intermodal’s New Orleans terminal can streamline multimodal operations. Additionally, the expansion will create 40 new jobs.

Freedom Intermodal’s “railcar cleaning operation represents a key service for shippers, offering faster turnaround times, reduced dwell, and enhanced safety – all within close proximity to our port and rail infrastructure,” said Tomeka Bryant, general manager and chief strategy officer, New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.

Freedom Intermodal specializes in transporting and handling bulk liquids and ISO tanks, including transloading railcars and trucks, ISO tank storage, heating, repair and inspection. Its dedicated cleaning system uses a combination of high-pressure water, cleaning solutions and steam, engineered for liquid tank cargo.

“Having access to every national railroad right here in New Orleans gives us a major advantage,” said Jeff Louis, Freedom Intermodal Tank Services president.

NOPB said the expansion reinforces its commitment to growing intermodal capabilities, supporting supply chains, and driving economic development and growth across the region.
