Felbermayr Acquires Austrian Equipment Unit
[ March 20, 2026 // Gary Burrows ]Austria-based logistics and heavy transport group Felbermayr Group has expanded its heavy assembly and engineered solutions capabilities through the acquisition of specialized equipment from Hoffmann Spezialtransporte.
The transfer of assets was completed in mid-March following the retirement of company founder Olaf Hoffmann. The equipment will be integrated into Felbermayr’s heavy installation and engineered solutions operations, as well as subsidiaries Jozef Hermans and Wimmer Maschinentransporte.
The acquisition includes two heavy-duty lifting gantries with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes each, along with Sefiro self-propelled transporters and structural components used in complex industrial installation projects.
Felbermayr said the additional equipment will enhance its ability to handle customized heavy-lift and assembly work, particularly for large-scale industrial projects requiring specialized engineering solutions.
The gantry systems will be deployed primarily within the group’s engineered solutions division and by Jozef Hermans, while the transporters will be used in the Netherlands for industrial relocations and factory moves.
The company said the added capacity is expected to improve responsiveness for time-sensitive projects and expand its range of heavy transport and installation services.
