DHL Expands to Meet Data Center Demand Surge

[ March 25, 2026   //   ]

DHL is expanding its North America logistics infrastructure to support accelerating demand for data center construction and hyperscale deployment, adding more than 7 million square feet of dedicated warehouse capacity across 10 new sites set to come online in 2026.

The expansion, led by DHL Supply Chain, is designed to provide end-to-end data center logistics services, including white-glove handling of sensitive IT equipment, rack pre-configuration, and specialized warehouse-to-site transport for large-scale hyperscale and colocation projects.

The company said the new facilities will help address growing complexity in data center buildouts, where compressed timelines and globally distributed supply chains require precise coordination of high-value components such as servers, power systems and networking hardware. By shifting integration and testing into controlled warehouse environments, operators can reduce on-site congestion and minimize installation delays.

The expansion aligns with broader industry trends toward consolidation of logistics providers. According to independent research cited by DHL, 85 percent of data center operators prefer a single end-to-end logistics partner, although fewer than half have one, highlighting demand for integrated solutions across transportation, warehousing and site delivery.

DHL’s model integrates its supply chain operations with its global forwarding network, enabling multimodal transport solutions for equipment sourced from manufacturing hubs in Asia and delivered to deployment sites across North America and other regions. The company emphasized capabilities including customs support, heavy-lift handling and time-critical air and ocean freight for high-value shipments such as GPUs and power modules.

Executives said North America – home to more than 40 percent of global data centers – represents a key growth market for the company’s data center logistics strategy, with further regional expansions planned as demand for digital infrastructure continues to rise alongside artificial intelligence and cloud computing investments.

The expansion underscores how logistics providers are adapting to specialized, high-growth sectors by offering vertically integrated, time-sensitive supply chain solutions tailored to complex infrastructure buildouts.
