Charter Flight Launched Between PIT and SHA

[ August 17, 2018   //   ]

Nonstop seasonal charter services connecting Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA), China, started on August 3, 2018. The service is provided by China Eastern Airlines and is the region’s first nonstop air link with China.

Aircraft utilized on the route is a Boeing 777-300ER. The service particularly targets tourists, but also accommodates cargo.

“This is a huge step forward for the future, particularly for nonstop air service to China. The charter-to-scheduled service model has been successfully adopted in other parts of the world,” said Christina Cassotis, Pittsburgh International Airport CEO. “We are the first U.S. market to tap into China’s fast-growing tourism market with this type of business model.”
