AFKLMP Cargo flies works by Dutch painter Mondrian to Brazil

[ January 26, 2016   //   ]

AIR FRANCE KLM MARTINAIR (AFKLMP) Cargo has been chosen as dedicated carrier for major artworks, on their way from the Netherlands to Brazil.

In mid January, two shipments, including a total of 70 famous works by renowned Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, left the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag (The Hague’s museum of modern art) to be loaded onto KLM’s scheduled Boeing 777 service between Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Sao Paulo in Brazil. These works will be part of a twelve-month touring exhibition in Brazil, where they will be displayed in Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.

The transportation of artworks demands specialist expertise, including technical know-how and experience in handling such precious and fragile shipments in the best possible way. Specially designed and highly protective packaging is required, as well as special handling procedures during palletization and when loading the paintings into the palletized belly holds of its aircraft.

Constant temperature control and safety measures are other requirements AFKLMP meets in guaranteeing the standard of customized service offered to customers under all circumstances.
Owing to these high standards, AFKLMP Cargo is widely considered, by freight forwards and museums alike, as one of the leading global specialists in the airborne transportation of valuable artworks.
