DHL Earnings Rise 30% as Demand Strengthens

DHL Group reported a 30 percent increase in second-quarter operating profit as higher shipment weights, stronger freight volumes and constrained international airfreight capacity helped lift earnings.

Group revenue increased 13 percent to €22.4 billion from €19.8 billion a year earlier, while operating profit, or EBIT, rose to €1.9 billion from €1.4 billion. The EBIT margin increased to 8.3 percent from 7.2 percent. DHL raised its 2026 operating profit forecast to more than €6.5 billion.

Revenue growth was driven in part by higher transported shipment weight at DHL Express, international airfreight capacity constraints and the pass-through of higher fuel costs. DHL said disciplined yield and capacity management and structural cost improvements also supported earnings.

DHL Express revenue jumped 21.5 percent to €7.13 billion, while EBIT climbed 64.3 percent to €1.2 billion. Temporary airfreight capacity constraints contributed about €150 million to operating profit during the quarter.

Global Forwarding also benefited from the volatile freight environment. Revenue increased 17.9 percent to €5.45 billion and EBIT rose 21.9 percent to €240 million. DHL attributed the improvement to growing air and ocean freight volumes and management of changing freight rates and trade flows.

DHL Supply Chain revenue increased 12.9 percent to €4.72 billion, although EBIT declined 12.1 percent to €305 million from an unusually strong year-earlier quarter. The Americas made a particularly strong contribution, led by life sciences and healthcare, automotive, and engineering and manufacturing customers.
