Descartes Acquires Tai for US$100 Million

Descartes Systems Group has acquired freight brokerage technology provider Tai Software for about US$100 million, expanding its transportation management capabilities and adding shipment and carrier execution data to its Global Logistics Network.

California-based Tai provides an AI-enabled transportation management system for freight brokers covering truckload, less-than-truckload, drayage and cross-border operations. The platform combines quoting, carrier sourcing, load execution, billing and customer engagement in a single workflow.

“Transportation networks are becoming increasingly dynamic and complex. At the same time, AI is changing how our customers manage freight, capacity and execution,” said Edward J. Ryan, CEO of Descartes.

Ryan said Tai complements Descartes’ existing capabilities in carrier onboarding, compliance, fraud prevention and real-time visibility.

Descartes said integrating Tai also will add transaction, carrier and shipment-execution data to its Global Logistics Network, which connects shippers, carriers and logistics service providers.

The acquisition is Descartes’ fourth in 2026 and 34th since 2017, continuing the company’s strategy of expanding its logistics technology portfolio through acquisitions.

Descartes paid for the acquisition with cash on hand.
