Freedom Intermodal Invests in NOLA Operation

[ June 12, 2026   //   ]

Freedom Intermodal Tank Services has expanded its New Orleans operations with a new automated bulk liquid packaging facility, adding capacity for packaging, warehousing and distribution of bulk liquid products while reinforcing the region’s role as a major industrial logistics hub.

The facility, located adjacent to Freedom Intermodal’s existing operations in New Orleans East, adds automated drum and tote filling capabilities and integrates packaging, warehousing, transloading, storage, heating, blending, cleaning, trucking and rail services into a single operation.

Port of New Orleans officials said the investment reflects growing demand for integrated logistics solutions that combine rail, truck and maritime transportation. The site includes Class A warehouse space, 38 outbound dock doors, covered truck and rail unloading, heating and blending capabilities, a 450-railcar storage-in-transit yard and four acres of laydown and trailer parking.

“Freedom Intermodal’s expansion is a powerful example of how strategic private-sector investment, combined with the multimodal connectivity offered by Port NOLA and NOPB, creates new opportunities for businesses to move products more efficiently,” said Beth Branch, president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans and CEO of the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad.

Freedom Intermodal CEO Jeff Louis said the expansion allows customers to package, store and distribute products from a single location while reducing handling and improving supply chain efficiency.

The investment underscores continued confidence in the New Orleans region’s industrial and logistics infrastructure, particularly for chemical and bulk liquid supply chains that rely on integrated transportation, storage and processing capabilities.
