Ocean Alliance Launches JAXPORT Service
[ April 10, 2026 // Gary Burrows ]The Ocean Alliance will begin calling the Jacksonville Port Authority’s SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal in May, adding a weekly container service linking Northeast Florida with major Asian markets.
The Chesapeake Bay Express service, operated jointly by CMA CGM, COSCO Shipping, Evergreen Marine and OOCL, will make its inaugural call in May. The four carriers rank among the world’s top 10 container lines.
The port rotation includes Vung Tau, Vietnam; Yantian and Shanghai, China; Busan, South Korea; Kobe, Japan; a Panama Canal transit; and U.S. calls at Norfolk, Charleston, Savannah and Jacksonville before returning to Vietnam.
SSA Marine will provide stevedoring at the SSA Jacksonville Container Terminal at JAXPORT’s Blount Island Marine Terminal. The facility features a 47-foot deepwater channel, modern cargo handling equipment and expanded capacity designed to accommodate larger vessels and growing cargo volumes.
“The addition of the Ocean Alliance further strengthens Jacksonville’s position as a strategic gateway for global trade,” said Eric Green, JAXPORT CEO. “This service expands routing flexibility between the Southeast United States and key Asian markets and underscores how our continued infrastructure investments are delivering efficient, reliable service for global carriers.”
As the final U.S. port of call on the service, Jacksonville offers shippers opportunities for equipment repositioning and faster transit for export cargo.
JAXPORT is Florida’s largest container port by volume and a major hub for vehicle handling and breakbulk cargo A project to raise the air draft at Blount Island to 205 feet remains on track for completion by the end of 2026.
