Palm Beach’s $30M Upgrades Truck Wait Times

[ March 25, 2026   //   ]

Port of Palm Beach has completed a US$30 million infrastructure upgrade program aimed at improving gate efficiency, rail connectivity and cargo flows, the port said.

The project included a redesign and automation of the main entrance, expanded truck lanes, installation of radiation portal monitors and rehabilitation of 6.5 miles of on-port rail track. The port is one of two in Florida with on-dock rail service.

Port officials said the upgrades are expected to cut truck wait times in half, reduce emissions and strengthen throughput as supply chains evolve.

The program was supported by the U.S. Maritime Administration and the Florida Department of Transportation.

Caribbean carrier Tropical Shipping, a long-time tenant, said the improvements would enhance safety and support service expansion in the region.

The port said the investment reinforces its role as a regional economic hub, handling more than US$12 billion in commodities annually and supporting thousands of jobs in South Florida.
