Davies Turner, MGF Partner on Canada Services

UK freight and logistics provider Davies Turner has signed a partnership agreement with Manitoulin Global Forwarding, or MGF, the Canadian transportation specialist.

Davies Turner said the collaboration significantly enhances its ocean freight capabilities for the Canadian market, including improved service coverage, faster transit times and increased supply chain efficiency.

The partnership follows Canada’s agreement to ratify Britain’s accession to the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, or CPTPP, which could lead to a surge in trade between the two countries, and increased demand for freight and logistics services.

Davies Turner has more than 30 years of experience in the Canadian ocean freight market, while family owned MGF has more than 60 years of industry experience and a nationwide network of 85 freight stations and more than 1,500 vehicles.

The partnership will offer weekly services through Liverpool and Montreal providing containerload and non-containerload shipments between the UK and Canada’s East and West coasts, with connections with the U.S. Midwest and Northeast.

Mississauga, Ontario based MGF, part of the Manitoulin Group of Cos., operates throughout Canada, Mexico and the U.S., with expertise in cross-border and domestic logistics.

“It gives us an ideal opportunity to further strengthen the two-way services that we operate between the UK and Canada,” following the accession of CPTPP,” said Tony Cole, director of Davies Turner’s ocean freight services. “Canada plans to introduce the legislation to the Ottawa parliament this autumn, which should initially provide a boost for business and trade between the UK and Canada.”
