The Port of Oakland has named Julina Bonilla the Workforce Development Manager in its Social Responsibility Division. “Julina Bonilla brings strong leadership skills, a deep knowledge of workforce development innovation and success in building coalitions to get things done,” said Port of Oakland Social Responsibility Director Amy Tharpe. “Her collaborative approach and track record of delivering results will benefit our efforts to increase employment.”
Ms. Bonilla’s responsibilities at the Port include partnering with government agencies, schools, labor, and the community to develop a program that prepares and places local residents in Port-related careers. This includes workers from underserved communities that face barriers to employment.
Ms. Bonilla has more than 20 years of workforce development experience and most recently served as Executive Director of the West Oakland Jobs Resource Center. She graduated from U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in Sociology and holds an elected position as Trustee for the Peralta Community Colleges.
